The article is an extract from the Weekly Return of Births and Deaths in London for 14 October 1854. William Farr summarized the data on water-company supply related to cholera mortality (when it was available) collected by sub-district registrars in South London from 27 August through 7 October. This effort was a continuation of Snow's investigation, undertaken since the agreement he struck with Farr in August.
